LONDON: Arsenal have postponed their Boxing Day Premier League fixture with Wolves after threatened industrial action on London's Underground system, the club announced on Thursday.
The Gunners were due to face Wolves as part of the traditional programme on December 26 but have now shunted the fixture back 24 hours as London braces for travel disruption from the strike.
Arsenal said the club had taken the decision after liaising with police and local authorities.
“We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused supporters, but we feel that the right decision has been made based on a duty of care,” Arsenal said in a statement on the club's website.
A legal challenge to prevent the strike going ahead failed in London's High Court on Thursday, although Underground bosses were considering whether to appeal the ruling.
Chelsea had previously announced their Boxing Day derby against west London rivals Fulham would go ahead regardless of any industrial action.
