One killed in road accident

ISLAMABAD, Dec 7: A deadly collision of three vehicles on G.T. Road near Sangjani toll plaza on Wednesday claimed one life and left eight others injured.

The incident took place when a coach of Fecto Cement Factory’s employees crashed into a trailer coming to Islamabad while negotiating a U-turn. As the driver applied brakes, a passenger van coming from Peshawar rammed into the back of the trailer loaded with iron rods.

The conductor of the coach died on the spot while six employees along with two passengers of the van suffered injuries.

The road remained blocked due to the accident and dozens of vehicles remained stuck. The police brought a lifter and removed the van from the road. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Atif, a resident of Kaller Saydan. — Staff Reporter

Woman ‘abducted’

RAWALPINDI, Dec 7: A woman passenger went missing from Benazir Bhutto International Airport on Sunday after returning from Saudi Arabia on a Pakistan International Airline’s (PIA) flight, police said.

Samrina married Ismail Khan some seven months ago and recently she went to her parents in Saudi Arabia. She disappeared soon after landing at Islamabad airport. Her husband was waiting for her at the arrival lounge. Shah Khalid, the uncle of the missing woman, said Samrina was abducted by one of her relatives Nisar Khan who had been waiting in a car at the parking area. She talked to her husband on his cellphone from her abductors’ hideout and informed him that she was with Nisar Khan but later her phone was disconnected.— Staff Reporter
