NAB chief put on notice

ISLAMABAD, Nov 23: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday asked the chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and law secretary to submit their reply in a petition challenging the recruitment criteria in the bureau.

Justice Mohammad Azim Khan Afridi, taking up the petition, gave 10 days to the respondents to submit their reply and adjourned the hearing.

The petitioner, Syed Tahir Abbas, through his counsel GM Chaudhry alleged that merit given in NAB's advertisements for new recruitment was discriminatory towards law graduates and against the rules of Higher Education Commission (HEC).

In his petition, the petitioner claimed NAB had declared the B.E/B.Sc (Civil Mechanical/Electrical/Petroleum) equivalent to Master Degrees for application purposes but it did not accept LLB equivalent to masters degree. Instead, it sought LL.M degree for that post where it needs masters degree, although LLM is equivalent to MPhil. —A Reporter

Woman kills husband

GUJAR KHAN, Nov 23: A woman killed her husband with the help of her paramour and threw the body parts at different places.

Mohammad Shabir reported to the police on Tuesday that his brother, Mohammad Naseer was missing as he was not attending the calls on his cellphone. He suspected that the wife of his brother might be behind the missing of his brother.

Chaudhry Mohammad Asghar, sub inspector interrogated Shabina Bibi, wife of Mohmmad Naseer. She could not give satisfactory reasons for the disappearance of her husband. As he further grilled her, she confessed that she killed her husband with the help of Mohammad Fasil, a resident of Tharjial village.

Ch Asghar said that Shabina Bibi had illicit relations with Faisal and her husband had suspicions about the affair. He said she shot dead her husband with the help of her paramour. He said that the murderers axed his body into pieces and threw them at different places to hide the crime. The police arrested Shabina Bibi while her accomplice was still at large. —Correspondent

MURREE, Nov 23: On the orders of CPO Rawalpindi, police registered cases against 5 persons for carrying out illegal construction in various areas of Murree.

It is worth mentioning here that Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif had banned all sorts of construction work in the town.

The locals severely protested the ban alleging that high-rise illegal buildings were being constructed by the influential people with the connivance of TMA staff but a common man was not allowed to construct even a small house to cater for his residential needs. They said that workers attached with the construction industry were getting unemployed due to ban on construction.—Correspondent
