LAHORE: Despite all out efforts by the provincial government, the death toll from dengue touched 300 in Punjab as two more patients succumbed to the virus in Lahore on Tuesday, DawnNews reported.

Neelam, 20, of Qila Gujjat Singh and Sharifan Bibi, resident of Faizabad, aged 50, died of the virus at Lahore’s Mayo Hospital.

According to the Punjab Health Department, 87 cases of patients suffering from the virus were reported in the last 24 hours from across the province, including 49 from the provincial capital.

The department said that the situation was worsening in Faisalabad as the number of patients suffering from the virus was on the rise in the city.
