LAHORE: Dengue virus continued to haunt people as another nine including a women died of it in various city hospitals on Friday, raising the death toll to 205.

Mujahid (23) and Khalid (30) expired at the Mayo Hospital where they had been under treatment for the last four days.

Another patient, Ashar (25), died at CMH. Yasin (17) of Lahore Cantt, Wahab (30) of Chah Miran, Saad (11) of Nankana and Khalida (30) of Chah Miran lost their battle against dengue at Services Hospital.

The identity of two patients is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, dengue cases are on the rise.

Patients with high fever flocked to hospitals in the city.

According to provincial health department figures during the last 24 hours, 700 new dengue cases were reported in Punjab, raising the number to 14,729 while 461 new cases were reported in Lahore, raising the total to 12,657.

Some 1,862 patients are under treatment in various hospitals in Punjab while over 500 have recovered.
