Bodies of 2 women found

PESHAWAR, Sept 26: Bodies of two women, who were strangled, were found at the Hazarkhwani graveyard on Monday, police said.

An official of the Yakatoot police station said the information about presence of the women’s bodies had been given to police by a caller, saying the police immediately shifted the bodies to the local mortuary.

They were identified as Bakht Bebi (55) and her daughter Shazia (18), residents of Sardar Ahmed Jan colony. —Bureau Report

Woman shot dead

LAKKI MARWAT, Sept 26: Police recovered a kidnapped girl few hours after she was abducted, while her mother was killed by the kidnappers on resistance on Monday.

Police said armed men Hayatullah, Raza Khan, Zafran and Usman broke into the house of Sher Bahadar in Tajazai village to abduct his daughter. “When armed men attempted to drag the girl into their pick-up, her mother resisted, but she was shot dead,” the police said.

They said kidnappers dragged the girl into their pick-up and proceeded towards the tribal area.

The succeeded to stop the pick-up near Behramkhel and got released the kidnapped girl. Two kidnappers were also arrested. —Correspondent

Kidnapped man freed

KARAK, Sept 26: Following a series of protests by Khattak Ittehad, a man kidnapped 22 days ago was released by his abductors in Domel, Bannu, on Monday.

The elders of Khattak Ittehad went to Bannu where DSP Saddar Bannu Basharat Khan handed over the kidnapped man, Mohibullah, and his taxi car to them in Domail police station. Mohibullah told reporters after reaching home he was released by the kidnappers without paying any ransom. —Correspondent

House gutted

PESHAWAR, Sept 26: Fire gutted a house at Street-4 of Shaheen Colony near Bara Gate here on Monday.

The house’s owner Mohammad Zahid said the fire broke out at about 11am in a room which engulfed the entire building burning the household items.

He said the fire broke out due to a short circuit as the uninterrupted power supply (UPS) had developed a serious fault. He said the local people tried to douse the fire with buckets but could not do so as it was fast spreading to the nearby buildings. He said the fire tenders of Rescue 1122 helped control the fire. —Bureau Report

Policemen hurt on road

NOWSHERA, Sept 26: Four policemen were injured when a truck hit their mobile pick-up near Pabbi here on Sunday night.

The police said a Peshawar-bound truck (1941-C-Mardan) hit a police pick-up (5874-A) near Pabbi, injuring ASI Roshen Zeb, constables Fahimullah and Hazrat Ali, and driver Akbar Ali. They were taken to the Pabbi hospital for treatment. The Pabbi police station registered case against the truck driver. —Correspondent
