RAWALPINDI, Aug 2: The seminary teacher, who was arrested by the police a day earlier for allegedly torturing his student as he resisted the teacher's bid to molest him, was granted bail on Tuesday.

Qari Aamir, seminary teacher was released on bail by judicial magistrate Saeed Akhtar. Though Qari Aamir admitted beating the boy, he strongly denied the allegations of attempting to sexually molest the boy.

Qari Aamir of Jamia Usmania Saudul Quran at Khyban-e-Sir Syed was taken into custody by the police last night. He was produced before the court on Tuesday that granted him bail as the court admitted the rationale provided by the police that it was not a 'cognisable offense.'

The police officials investigating the case told the court that no marks of brutal torture on the victim's body could be found. The police officials said that only the marks of slight punishment with a stick could be found and it was not a cognizable offence under the law, therefore, it was nothing to do with the police.

“Now, the complainant has the option to file a petition in the civil court,” Malik Allah Yar, SHO Pirwadhai police said adding: “The brutal torture has not been proved in the medical examination report.”

Azam Khan, father of the victim had lodged a complaint with the Pirwidhai police that his son Jamshaid Khan was tortured by his teacher Qari Aamir as his son resisted the teacher's attempt to molest him.

Inspector Allah Yar revealed while talking to Dawn that the preliminary medical report failed to prove the brutal torture or any other offence with the boy, therefore, the police could not take any action against the accused. — Staff Reporter
