KHAIRPUR, May 23: A woman jumped to her death after having thrown her three minor children into the Rohri Canal near here on Monday.

Ms Rafia, wife of Adam Soomro, came in a rickshaw from Madina Colony, onto the canal's old bridge to end her and her children's lives, according to eye-witnesses.

First she threw her children into the canal and then jumped after them, they said.

Ms Rafia's relatives said ages of the children, Rukhsar alias Soonh, Adeel and Rab Nawaz, ranged between 1 to 4 years. Some domestic problems drover her to take the extreme step, they said.

Search for the bodies continued till late Monday evening.

DDO (revenue) Kabir Shah who is supervising the search, told Dawn that 10 divers, local and Navy's, had been brought from Sukkur to search the bodies.

A large number of area people gathered at the canal.

Rohri Canal is one of the biggest canals in the irrigation system of Sukkur division.
