KARACHI, May 20: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the Sindh police on Friday claimed to have arrested three suspected militants and an alleged ‘assassin’.

A top official said that the arrests of the four suspects engaged in different criminal activities were made in separate CID actions after brief encounters.

“Acting on a tip-off, a CID team raided a place in Sector 10½ of Orangi Town on Thursday and arrested three suspects, who are associated with the Abu Mansoor Group of Swat of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan,” Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Saud Mirza said at a press conference in the CID office.

“They have been identified as Alam Zeb alias Imran alias Noor Shah, Hasan Daar alias Sheena and Inam-ur-Rahman.

“The CID team has also recovered 20 kilos of explosive material, two hand grenades, three TT pistols and 13 bullets from the possession of the suspects who were planning to hit government buildings and target senior officials.”

In another raid, the CCPO said, a suspected assassin was arrested in a Gulistan-i-Jauhar area.

He said that the suspect, Wasi Iqbal alias Chhota, was associated with the “Mudassir chief group” and had executed some 30 killings on the group leader’s orders.

“His political affiliation is not yet established but he has confessed to have executed killings for extortion, kidnapping for ransom and to eliminate activists of rival groups,” added CCPO Mirza.
