LAHORE, May 19: A food squad of the City District Government of Lahore (CDGL) inspected on Thursday 33 restaurants, bakeries and juice corners in the city and collected 49 samples of suspected substandard food for a laboratory test.

According to a handout, the squad collected samples from Pakeza Sweet Palace, Pakeza Restaurant, Kashmir Bakers, Blue Palace Restaurant, Al-Hajveri Juice Shop, Younus Juice Corner and other food spots. The team also challaned owners of 24 other food shops for their unhygienic conditions and incomplete documents.

It said the food squad also seized 2,000 bottles of substandard drinks and a huge quantity of unhygienic food besides confiscating utensils being used for preparing juices.

CLEAN-UP: CDGL special anti-encroachment teams razed illegally constructed structures in Allama Iqbal, Nishtar, Samanabad, Gulberg, Shalamar, Data Ganj Bakhsh and Aziz Bhatti towns.
