ISLAMABAD, April 6: The District and Sessions Judge, Islamabad, Uzmaa Akhtar Chughtaai, on Wednesday ordered release of three convicts in a murder case after they reached a compromise with their rivals.

Siddique Khan, Salman Khan and Ms Hekmat Jan were tried for the murder of Bismillah Khan (husband of Hekmat Jan) in 2004. Siddique Khan and Salman Khan were sentenced to death whereas Hekmat Jan was sent to jail for life by the session court.

The convicts challenged their punishment in the superior courts, but even the Supreme Court finally rejected their appeal.

But on Wednesday, the District and Sessions Judge was informed that the convicts had reached an out-of-court compromise with the relatives of the deceased Bismillah Khanand and each of them paid Rs190,000 as diyat to them.

After that, the judge ordered the release of the prisoners.
