QUETTA: An explosive laden vehicle rammed into the wall of Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) investigations of police, Wazir Khan Nasir’s home on Gulistan Road, killed constable on duty and injured nine others including DIG and his two children according to reports on Thursday from DawnNews.

DIG Police Wazir Khan Nasir was targeted as an explosive laden vehicle rammed into the wall of his house.

According to CCPO police, Daud Junejo, attacker first opened fire and then blew up his explosive-laden car, killing on duty police constable at the gate. He said Nasir, his son and  daughter were slightly wounded in the attack, but were in stable condition.

Other victims included passers-by, and several houses also were damaged including that of DIG crimes.

No one immediately claimed responsibility, but Nasir played a key role in arresting religious militants and ethnic-Baloch separatists, said Junejo.

Balochistan has long been the scene of a low-level insurgency by nationalists who say their movement is aimed at getting a greater share of profits from natural resources like natural gas extracted from their province.
