LAHORE, March 7: Unification Bloc, the break-away group of the PML-Q, has responded to the show-cause notices issued by the parent party for allegedly switching their loyalties.

PML-Q parliamentary leader in the Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Zaheeruddin had issued the notices to disgruntled MPAs recently.

The bloc members, it is learnt, have taken the stance in their replies that the notices lack legality and have been issued on mere assumptions as they did not desert their party and joined the N-League as alleged in the notices.

Zaheer had in a statement advised those who had “changed their loyalties” to return to the party folds like they responded to the notices as 'good guys.'

He asserted that the turncoats responded only after disqualification references were filed against nine of them.

On the other hand, Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal said at an educational event here that Unification Bloc members were after all “children of the Q-League”.

He told the audience that “parents lose their rights on their children when the latter grow up”.

The speaker's comments may be a hint on the position he will take on the disqualification references submitted to him by Zaheer for forwarding onward to the Election Commission.
