LAKKI MARWAT, Feb 3: Police have arrested a suspected militant after exchange of fire here in Passani village, which borders the frontier tribal region.

An official of the local police said on Thursday that following a tip-off a police party reached the village and found a man armed with a Kalashnikov.

He said that the police asked the suspect to surrender, but he instead opened firing on them.

He said that the police retaliated and overpowered the suspected militant identified as Aqleem Khan.

The official said that a Kalashnikov and 22 bullets had been recovered from Aqleem and a case was registered against him under Section 324 and 353 PPC in Tajori police station.
