LAHORE: The South Asian Football Federation Women’s Championship got off to a blistering start, when Nepal thrashed Maldives 6-0 in the opening match in Bangaldesh on Sunday.

Nepal scored three goals in each half at the Cox’s Bazaar Stadium, and posted their first points of Group B.

Anu Lama opened the scoring for Nepal, when she struck in the 19th minute and added another in the 34th minute. Pramila Rai got on the score sheet in the 40th minute to put her side in a commanding position.

Five minutes into the second half, Nepal were back on the attack when Jamuna Gurung scored her first goal of the match. She added another 17 minutes later, while Anu Lama completed her hat-trick with her team’s sixth goal of the match in the 71st minute.
