ISLAMABAD, Dec 8: The Dutch Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI) and the Engineering Development Board (EDB) on Wednesday agreed on exchange of information to benefit small and medium-sized enterprises aspiring to enter the EU markets.

CBI representative for Pakistan Ms Christa Bouwhuis in a meeting briefed the EDB chief executive officer Aitezaz Niazi on the sectoral analysis made by CBI in Pakistan on the possibility of long-term capacity development to business support organisations and exporters in three different export value-addition systems.

The final analysis will identify the sectors and organisations that provide the best match with market opportunities in the EU.

CBI is holding a two-day training workshop in Lahore from Dec 10, in collaboration with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The objective is to provide exporters with knowledge, skills and tools to collect and analyse the data regarding the EU markets, and the target groups as well EU rules on exports. The training is focused on the garment sector.

The CBI will also hold a workshop in Karachi on Dec 13.
