Minister hints Mumbai plot not hatched in Pakistan

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Feb 3: The Minister of State for Interior, Tasnim Ahmad Qureshi, said on Tuesday the Federal Investigation Agency had submitted its preliminary investigation report on the Mumbai attacks.

During a visit to the National Police Foundation here, he told newsmen: “The report will be made public at a suitable time, possibly within a week.” He hinted that the plot was made outside Pakistan.

Mr Qureshi said a complaint cell had been set up at the ministry of interior on the directives of the president and the prime minister to address public complaints.

He said the cell would start functioning from Wednesday under his supervision and an immediate action would be taken on complaints.

In reply to a question, the state minister denied closure of the Pak-Afghan border at Chaman and said that steps were being taken to regularise the cross-border movement.

He said that a meeting of IGPs would soon be summoned to review the performance of police department.
