KARACHI: Rs100m for new media centre

KARACHI, Jan 3: The Sindh government has approved a sum of Rs100 million for setting up a media centre.

This was stated by provincial Minister for Information Shazia Marri while speaking at a presentation regarding the proposed media centre at the information department here on Saturday.

She said Rs40 million of the allocated funds would be released for the project during the current fiscal year.

She asked the department officials concerned to prepare a plan for the media centre keeping in view that it was aimed at facilitating flow of information to media people, including PID officials, to ensure and promote people’s right to know about the government’s activities.

Ms Marri hoped that the media centre would help disseminate correct information quickly to the media and the general public.

She said the centre would have a well-equipped auditorium and modern equipment of editing and film production.

He briefed the minister and PID officials about the modern equipment to be made available at the facility.

Director-General Syed Safdar Ali Shah and S.M. Iqbal of the Sindh information department were among the officials present at the presentation.
