BUNER, Dec 30: The Chief Election Commissioner, Justice (retired) Qazi Mohammad Farooq, on Tuesday announced that re-polling would be held at 11 polling stations of NA-28 constituency in Buner where polling was suspended owing to a suicide blast on Dec 28, killing 43 persons.

Polling was held at 256 polling stations out of 267, set up for by-election on the National Assembly seat in the district. Unofficial results said that Jamaat-i-Islami candidate Bakht Jehan Khan had a lead of 1,664 votes against his close rival Istiqbal Khan of Awami National Party.

According to unofficial results Bakht Jehan Khan has received 29,350 votes against 27,686 votes of Mr Istiqbal. There are 10,038 registered votes including 6183 male and 3855 female voters in the remaining 11 polling stations.

According to a press release of the Election Commission issued in Peshawar, the chief election commissioner has fixed Jan 14 for re-polling at the said 11 polling stations pursuant to the report received from the returning officer, who is an additional district and sessions judge.The election commissioner ordered that the returning officer concerned should personally supervise the poll with adequate resources.

The polling stations where re-polling will be held include: Government Middle School Shalbandi, Government Girls Middle School Shanlbandi, Government Primary School Shalbandi, Government Primary School Banr, Government Primary School Kund, Government Primary School Manai Government Girls Primary School No 2, Shalbandi, Government High School, Amnawar, Government Primary School, Amnawar, Government Girls Primary School, Amnawar and Government Primary School No1 Amnawar.—Correspondent
