HUNZA-NAGAR, Dec 25: Progressive Youth Front chief organizer Baba Jan on Thursday took oath as member of Gilgit District Council after an election tribunal accepting his petition declared him winner from Shinaki, lower Hunza, in October 2004 election.

Mohammad Hussain, Chairman District Council administered the oath of office to Baba Jan at District Council hall in the presence of the district council members and notables.

Iman Shah was declared successful in the 2004 elections as member of the district council. However, Baba Jan challenged the result in the election tribunal alleging that bogus votes of those who have either died or were not present in the city were polled in favour of his opponent.
