Mendis to miss BD Tests

COLOMBO, Dec 11: Sri Lanka’s spin sensation Ajantha Mendis will miss the upcoming two-Test series in Bangladesh due to an ankle injury, the country’s cricket board said on Thursday.

Mendis will be replaced by left-arm spinner Rangana Herath for the Test series starting on Dec 26, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said.

He suffered the injury last weekend while bowling for his local club and will need at least three to four weeks to recover, it said.

Mendis, however, has not been ruled out of a tri-nation one-day tournament beginning in Dhaka on Jan 10. Zimbabwe are the third team.—AFP
