ISLAMABAD, Dec 7: The capital police will collect personal details of domestic servants employed in houses as well as offices to build a database which will help in investigating criminal and terrorist acts, sources told Dawn on Sunday.
The sources said separate forms had been designed for collection of data from houses and buildings under the use of important and sensitive organisations.
“These forms will soon be sent to the concerned authority for approval,” they added.
Once the format of the forms is approved, the process of data collection will begin in the West Circle, comprising Margalla, Shalimar, Industrial Area, Sabzi Mandi, Tarnol, and Golra police.
In the second phase, details of servants will be collected in the East Circle, comprising Aabpara, Kohsar, Secretariat, Bhara Kahu, Shahzad Town, Nilore, Sihala and Koral police.
The sources said though crime was increasing in both circles, the West Circle had been hit hard by the criminals, with more reported cases of robberies, burglaries, street crime and vehicle theft.
One of the reasons behind the comparatively lower crime rate in the East Circle is that majority of government and foreign installations are located in this area.
The sources said during investigations into crime against property, mostly house servants were found involved in the crime, as they either committed the offence themselves or informed the criminals about the financial status, security consciousness level of the employer and the best time to strike.
The sources said the form designed for house servants would contain questions about personal details of the domestic worker, their guarantors and the employer.
Twenty officials at each police station will be tasked with collecting the data, the sources said, adding that a team, comprising four policemen, would be responsible a sub-sector.
According to the sources, the police are planning to carry out a survey to identify areas with a higher degree of crime so that they could be given priority in the data collection process.
Meanwhile, the police will also issue security advisories to the building owners and private security firms in order to improve arrangements to avert terrorist acts.
