TCP begins lint buying

KARACHI, Dec 1: The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has started procurement of lint from ginners at the support price of Rs3,202 per maund. It has established 13 cotton procurement centres throughout the country, covering almost all important areas where cotton is produced.

Of these, eight centers are in the Punjab located at Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, Chishtian, DG Khan, Multan, Sahiwal, Vehari and Faisalabad. Four centers have been opened in Sindh, which are located at Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Sanghar and Sukkur and one in Balochistan at Khuzdar.

As per the government policy, the TCP intervenes to stabilise prices of cotton in the local market and to ensure a fair return to the growers.—Staff Reporter
