KARACHI: Power plant project

KARACHI, Nov 25: The KESC management has signed a supply and services contract for a “fast-track power plant project” to increase the generation capacity by approximately 180 megawatts.

The first phase of generation will be completed by mid 2009 by adding 90MW to the city’s grid and the remaining will follow shortly afterwards.

The addition of 180MW power follows the addition of 96MW at Korangi Thermal and 50MW of rental power earlier this month.

The recent additions come as part of the continuing initiative by the KESC to ensure self-reliance in meeting the city’s power needs, says a press release issued by the utility.—APP
