HYDERABAD, Nov 19: The Hyderabad circuit bench of the Sindh High Court on Wednesday issued notices to DPO of Matiari, SHOs of police stations Mirpurkhas, Site, Bhitshah and Hala on a petition filed by brother of an office-bearer of Sindh United Party who was picked up by police following his participation in a protest against privatisation of the Qadirpur gas field.

The petitioner, Lala Bux Sangrasi, who is represented by Ayaz Tunio, said that his brother Wahid Bux Sangrasi had taken part in a protest against privatisation of the gas field last week and afterwards the SHO of police station Satellite Town along with other respondents raided his house in Hyderabad in Site area.

He said that the police also raided the petitioner’s house in his village and arrested Ameer Bux after finding Wahid Bux absent. He was still in wrongful confinement by police, he said.

He said that on Nov 16 he, Ehsan Ali and Nazeer Ali were in their house when police forced into the house and issued them threats. They threatened that if they did not produce Wahid Bux before DPO of Mirpurkhas, Ameer Bux and the petitioner’s family members would be implicated in false criminal cases, he said.

Then on Nov 17, police harassed him and his family after trespassing into the house in his village without any legal authority, he said.

He said that he was told that it was last chance for them to produce Sangrasi otherwise his family should be ready to face serious consequences.

He prayed the court to restrain the respondents from harassing him and his family and said that they should be directed to produce a list of cases, if any, against Wahid Bux.

The court fixed hearing of the case for Nov 24.
