SRINAGAR, Oct 23: Police clashed with Muslim protesters in occupied Kashmir on Thursday after two senior leaders were arrested for running an anti-election campaign, witnesses and police said.

Yasin Malik, the head of pro-independence Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), and Moulvi Showket Shah of Jamiat Ahl-i-Hadees were arrested in raids on their residences in Srinagar late on Wednesday, police said.

“The two have been arrested under unlawful activities act,” a police officer told AFP.
