DADU: Students present plays

By Our Correspondent

DADU, Oct 20: An event titled “Improving English learning” was held in Johi on Monday under the aegis of the Cognitive Learning Centre, a language centre founded by the Johi Organisation for Rural Development and Natural Disaster (JORDAN).

The event was arranged to highlight the importance of modern tools and methods for learning English.

Students of the centre presented two plays titled “Seven Ages of Man” and “Yesterday Once More”, which was appreciated by the audience.

A number of social activists, students and teachers, including Bakht Jamal of JORDAN, Ghulam Qadir Babbar, nazim UC Johi, Akbar Panhwar, Zulfiqar Jamali PPP-SB, Pir Bakhsh Babbar and Aamir Raz Soomro were present.

Speaking on the occasion, the facilitator of the centre, Khadim Hussain, said that it was the first centre in the district where technology was used for learning language. He said that the centre focused on the word “cognition”, which was the faculty of human being to analyze things and ideas scientifically and that they did not follow traditional methods of drilling. Rather they used audio-visual-aids for teaching English language so that the learners could grasp the language.

Johi union council nazim Ghulam Qadir Babbar announced prizes for the students who participated in different segments of the programme.

ARREST: Dadu police raided Seddhanko Potho village in Dadu taluka on Monday and arrested an alleged robber, Gullan Panhwar, and recovered one Kalashnikov rifle and a shotgun from his possession.

Later, a large number of women staged a protest demonstration against the raid. They said that police during the raid had damaged furniture.
