KHAIRPUR, Oct 20: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested after encounters bandits Riaz Mohammad alias Chado Jagirani, carrying head money of Rs500,000, and Bego Mari, who were wanted in over 20 criminal cases.

SP investigation Ghulam Akbar Waggan told journalists that police received a tip-off that Chado Jagirani was hiding in date palm orchards near Chhatan Shah village.

They surrounded the orchard and after an encounter, which lasted for some time, arrested Chado while his accomplices managed to flee, he said.

He said that the bandit was wanted in 30 criminal cases and the government had announced Rs500,000 head money for his arrest.

Meanwhile, Gambat police claimed the arrest of bandit Shah Baig alias Bego Mari after an encounter near Langah village and said they had found a Kalashnikov, two single barrelled guns, a large quantity of bullets and magazines in his possession.

Police said that Bego Mari was wanted in 24 criminal cases lodged at Tando Masti Khan and Ahmedpur police stations.
