Japan donates $4.06m for the displaced

By Bakhtawar Mian

ISLAMABAD, Oct 14: Japan has donated $4.06 million for helping the people displaced by recent conflicts and floods in the northern parts of Pakistan.

A UNHCR official told Dawn that the donation would be used by the UN refugee agency in its operations to provide relief to about 310,000 Internally Displaced People. He said the agency needed $17.2 million for its work.

The UNHCR operation is part of a $54 million ‘Pakistan humanitarian response plan’ launched by the UN to assist the government in providing immediate relief to the displaced people.
