KARACHI, Oct 14: Nazimabad FC beat their own record of scoring the most goals against any side when they thrashed District Central champions Maymar Sports 6-0 while Usmanabad Union recorded their first win by beating District South champions Lal Bakhsh Memorial 3-1 in Sports 360’s ongoing KASB Premier League Football (PLF) matches played at the CDGK Stadium on Monday.

They had earlier given a 5-0 beating to Gulshan FC on Aug 22.

Jafar Ali and Sabir Khan scored two goals each whereas Atif Fatah and Amir Khan contributed one each for the winners. Their stopper Zareef Khan also produced fine play while defending his side.

Playing without five of their key players, including the captain, all sitting out thanks to red and yellow cards, Nazimabad FC went into the match on shaky legs. But their reserve players made manager Arshad Jamal and coach Saleem Patni proud.

The first goal was scored in the 13th minute by Nazimabad FC’s striker and substitute skipper Atif Fatah from a distance of 20 yards. This was followed by two goals in the 15th and 18th minutes by striker Sabir Khan, who was playing his first match.

Striker Jafar Ali gave Nazimabad their fourth goal in the 33rd minute to make the score 4-0 at interval. The second session saw Maymar Sports improving on their defense to allow Nazimabad to score only two goals through Jafar Ali (62nd minute) and substitute striker Amir Khan (90th minute).

In between, in the 71st minute, Maymar Sports missed out on a great opportunity when they earned a penalty kick as a result of a handball infringement by the winning side. But midfielder Hasan Taimur’s kick was blocked by Dilawar Khan, Nazimabad’s goalkeeper.

There were several missed opportunities in the other match between Usmanabad Union and Lal Bakhsh Memorial as well. Usmanabad Union’s striker Mohammad Ali wasted at least three chances while Imran Sr failed to score on two. It was only in the 45th minute that striker Sajjad Hussain Jr managed to give them their first break. But Lal Bakhsh restored parity in the second half though their striker Ghulam Nabi only a minute after he had stepped on to the field, in the 62nd minute.

Keeping their wits about them, Usmanabad played on to take the lead again in the 79th minute when their left-fullback Amir Ali’s powerful kick bounced off Lal Bakhsh’s goalkeeper Gulzar Hussain to end up inside the goal. The 84th minute saw striker Mohammad Ali making up for his missed chances in the first half through solo attempt to make the score 3-1.
