HYDERABAD, Oct 14: Employees of the Sindh Agriculture University observed a strike and held a sit-in at the campus on Tuesday in protest against Vice-Chancellor Dr Basheer Ahmed Shaikh.

Leaders of the employees’ action committee Karam Ali Punhoon, Syed Abdul Majeed Shah and Ghulam Hyder Joyo said that the presence of Dr Shaikh at the campus was unacceptable not only to the employees but also to the university’s teachers and the students.

The university’s teachers association joined the employees call for an inquiry against the VC and expressed concern over deteriorating situation at the university.

The students were the main sufferers as the academic activities had come to a halt, they said.

The association demanded removal of the vice chancellor and said that an inquiry committee headed by a judge should be appointed to probe the allegations levelled against the VC.
