11 killed and 20 hurt in separate accidents

DADU, Oct 3: At least 11 people were killed and 20 injured in separate road accidents in Sindh on Friday.

Six people were killed and eight injured when a Karachi- bound pickup collided with a trailer on the Indus Highway near Sann on Friday.

The occupants of the van were coming from Sehwan where they had gone to pay homage to Lal Shahbaz Qalandar on Eid days.

The deceased were identified as Ali Murad, 28; Nawaz Ali, 25; Wazir Ali, 25; Kamran, 28; Zahid Hussain, 35; and Ms Chooja, 25.

The injured and the bodies were taken to Sann taluka hospital from where the bodies were sent to Karachi in Edhi ambulances.

Sehwan Edhi Centre in-charge Ashfaq Hussain the van driver tried to save a motorcyclist but he was also crushed to death under the wheels of the trailer.

Meanwhile, two men were killed and three others were injured in a road accident on the Indus Highway near Sehwan.

Manzoor Mustafa and Shakir Ali died on the spot and three others received injuries when their Sehwan-bound car rammed into a tree at Garhi Mori near Sehwan.

In another incident, one Qaim Khan, 32, was crushed to death under the wheels of Larkana-bound passenger coach near Jamshoro Thermal Powerhouse on Eid day. Jamshoro police arrested the coach driver.

SUICIDE: One Mohammad Ishaque Birhamani 30, committed suicide by consuming pesticide due to poverty in Rajo Jo Ghandho village, Johi taluka on Eid day.

It is said reported that Mohammad Ishaque was a poor man and committed suicide as he could not purchase cloths for his family members for Eidul Fitr.

CLASH: One person was killed in a clash between two groups of Suhag tribesmen over a matrimonial dispute in Bajhi Khan village, Mehar taluka on Eid day.

Guns were used in the clash as a result of which Sojhro Khan Suhag 35, was killed. Carrying the body, his relatives staged demonstration outside taluka hospital in Mehar. They placed the body on the road and demanded immediate arrest of his killers.

LOOTED: Armed men looted Rs500,000 cash and other valuables from Nadir patrol pump near Mehar town on Wednesday.

According to reports, unknown armed men looted Rs500,000 cash and other valuables from the staff of Nadir patrol pump belonged to local leader of Dadu Ittehad Panel.

The supporters of Dadu Ittehad Panel staged held a rally and staged a demonstrations at Bundho Mori and Sim Shakh on Mehar-Khairpur Nathan Shah Indus highway against the robbery. They were led by owner of the patrol pump Haji Sikandar Ali Butt.

Our Thatta correspondent adds: Five passengers were killed and 12 others including children were injured when a bus and a pick-up collided head-on on the National Highway near Gharo on Friday.

A Badin-bound bus collided head-on with a pick-up near Gharo resulting in death of the occupants of the pick. The deceased were identified as Noor Hassan Gabol, Arif Gabol, Yamin Baloch, Sher Khan Gabol and Abdul Karim, all residents of Gadap, Karachi.

Twelve passengers of the bus identified as Bibi Qambrani, Khushi, Aziza, Naila Qambrani, 8, Shahida Soomro, 4, Azadi, Mohammed Hussain Gabol, Javed, Amanat Nohrio, Usman Soomro, Latif Kachhi and Arif sustained serious injuries and were taken to Karachi for medical treatment.?
