RAWALPINDI, Sept 14: A man killed his daughter and her ‘lover’ and later gave himself up to the local police in Dhoke Farman (Waris Khan) early Sunday morning, police said.

The alleged killer, Rashid Ahmed, telephoned the police investigating officer and informed him that he had murdered his daughter and her paramour and wanted to give himself up.

Shabana Rashid, 21, had fallen in love with Abdul Khurshid, a man double her age. Later she ran away and started living with him against her father’s will; which brought shame to her family.

After Shabana started living with Abdul Khurshid, 40, who was already married with three children, she contacted her father several times to convince him and informed him that she had contracted Nikah with Khurshid.

Late Saturday night, the girl’s father agreed to reconcile and allowed the couple to come to his house.

When the couple arrived at his house in Dhoke Farman, he took out his pistol and shot his daughter dead.

Minutes later, he fired two shots at Abdul Khurshid and on seeing him still breathing he smashed his head with his pistol’s butt, the police said.

The investing officer, SI Yousuf Butt, said: “This is one of the most brutal double-murder cases I have ever dealt. Abdul Khurshid, 40, was killed by two shots fired by the girl’s father who later smashed his head with his pistol’s butt.”

He said what was more horrifying was that the murderer, whose clothes were soaked with blood, telephoned the police and confessed that he had killed his daughter and wanted to give himself up.

The investigating officer said the affair between the two started after the girl received a miss call on her mobile from Abdul Khurshid who worked as a watchman at a mobile phone company.

The girl’s murder by her father has shocked the people residing in the locality.
