Remand of varsity teacher extended

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Sept 3: Anti-terrorism court judge Najibullah Khan on Wednesday extended for seven days the remand of Balochistan University lecturer Hasan Janan and one Abdul Ghafoor who have been accused of attacking the city police station with a grenade on Aug 25. Two shopkeepers were injured in the attack.

Meanwhile, Balochistan University Vice-Chancellor

Dr Massom Khan Yasinzai and Academic Staff Association’s president Kaleemullah Barach have demanded an impartial investigation into the incident.

Addressing a press conference, Dr Yasinzai said police had conducted a raid on the teachers’ hostel without informing the university administration.

He said he would discuss the issue with the governor and chief minister.

The vice-chancellor said that interference in affairs of the university should be stopped.

Mr Barach alleged that during the raid on the hostel police misbehaved with teachers.
