HYDERABAD, Sept 3: Seven juvenile offenders whose trial had been delayed or their applications were not being heard were produced before the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench here on Wednesday.

They were produced in the court on the directives of Justice Amir Hani Muslim, who had visited the juvenile section of women’s prison, Hyderabad, a day earlier.

The juvenile offenders included Mohammad Nadeem, Zainul Abideen, Faizan, Asif, Soomar, Laung and Rohail. They were facing cases in Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Tando Adam, Sehwan, Tandojam, Naukot and Larkana, respectively. The cases pertain to charges of kidnapping for ransom, murder, rape, etc.

Justice Muslim did pass specific orders regarding their cases and called investigating police officers of the cases.

He ordered shifting of one of the offenders to his own district for trial of his case and fixed hearing of other cases for Sept 4 and 5.

“I have been challaned in a case of kidnapping for ransom, police encounter and 13-D by Tando Adam SHO Saleem Mughal because I refused to pay him bribe,” Faizan told Dawn.He said he was picked up from his house and taken to the police station where he was beaten and asked to pay money for his release which he failed to pay.

He said he was produced before an Anti-Terrorism Court which remanded him in judicial custody in July.

According to Mohammad Nadeem, Mirpurkhas police challaned him in a rape case two years ago and was granted bail but complainant Nazeer Meo got it cancelled. He denied he was involved in the case.

Zainul Abideen is a residence of Thatta and Chauhar Jamali police challaned him in a murder case with his father following an incident that took place on March 15, 2007. He said he was awaiting bail in the case.

Similarly, Laung was challaned in a murder case by Naukot police and Asif was also challaned in rape case by Sehwan police. He was in jail for two years.
