BUNER: Seven die as pick-up falls into ravine

BUNER, Sept 1: Seven people were killed and one person was injured, when a pick-up plunged into a hundred feet deep gorge in the mountainous range in tehsil Chozi on late Sunday night.

The police said a double cabin pickup was on its way to district Shangla from Nasratkhel, district Buner when it reached Shangro, the driver lost control of the vehicle and the pickup fell into a ravine killing seven passengers on the spot, while one person was injured. The injured person was rushed to the hospital.

The deceased include, driver Farooq, Bakhti, Wazir, Naseebullah, Anbar, Ijaz and Himat Shah.

The person who sustained injuries was identified as Jalilur Rehman, while four other passengers escaped unhurt. The deceased were residents of Shangla. The residents of the area rushed to the site and took part in rescue work. They brought the bodies from ravine and send them to their native towns.

PROTEST: The students of the Postgraduate College, Daggar blocked the main Swat-Buner road for all kinds of traffic for over two hours in protest against undeclared loadshedding.

However, on the assurance of the XEN Peshawar Electric Supply Company, Buner the protesters dispersed peacefully.
