KARACHI: Jamaat man among five killed in violent acts

KARACHI, Aug 27: Five people, including a worker of the Jamaat-i-Islami, were killed on Wednesday in acts of violence in different parts of the city, police and witnesses said.

The 35-year-old JI worker, Hasan Ather, was shot dead by unknown motorcyclists early morning near his house in Salman Farsi Society.

Al-Falah police said the victim was on his way after Fajr prayers when he was attacked and killed.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where sources said the victim had received six bullets from a very close range as most of the bullets went through his body.

The JI said the victim had got married a year ago and he was employed in a private firm.

The police registered a case against unknown assailants on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Muzzafffar Jamal.

Killed by robbers

A 37-year-old man was shot dead in the small hours of Wednesday at his Orangi Town house by unknown intruders.

The victim, Mohammed Ramzan, son of Allah Ditta, was a labourer and married with two minor children.

The Pakistan Bazaar police registered a case against unknown culprits on the complaint of the victim’s wife, Mehtab Bibi.

Double murder

Two young men were shot dead in the small hours of Wednesday near Bakra Peeri in Kalakot.

Witnesses said two men were on their way on a bike when the occupants of a car intercepted them near police lines quarters. They said the attackers first beat the two victims and later opened fire, killing one of them instantly and fatally injuring the other who died at Civil Hospital.

Hospital sources said 28-year-old Zafar, son of Gul Mohammed, was brought dead to the facility and victim Jamil, son of Abdullah, succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Kalakot police said the victims were the resident of Lyari.

Labourer shot dead

A 25-year-old man was shot dead near Siddique Masjid in Khadda Market.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital where the victim was identified as Inam Ullah, son of Karim Shah, resident of Liaquat Colony, Kalri.

The victim’s brother, Ikram Ullah, told the police that his brother had left early in the morning for work. Later, he said, the family was informed that the man was killed and his body was shifted to the Civil Hospital.

The police registered a murder case against unknown culprits on the complaint of Ikram Ullah.

They said the incident seemed to be motivated by a personal enmity.
