HYDERABAD, Aug 20: The Awami Tehrik has said that it is surprising that despite the resignation of Pervez Musharraf, deposed chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and other deposed judges are not being reinstated and no case of treason is being registered against the violator of the constitution.

At a news conference at the press club here on Wednesday, the president of the party, Abdul Qadir Ranto, and other leaders congratulated the lawyers, the journalists and members of the civil society for their relentless struggle against the dictator leading to his resignation.

They said that the people were furious as to why the murderer of Ms Benazir Bhutto, Nawab Akbar Bugti, Balaach Mari and thousands of other innocent people was given guard of honour and full protocol on leaving the presidency.

They demanded that all the deposed judges, including Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, should be reinstated and Pervez Musharraf should be tried for treason and other crimes.

The AT president announced that the activists of his party will stage protest demonstration and hunger strikes throughout Sindh on Thursday (today) to pressurise the government for reinstatement of deposed judges and registration of cases against Pervez Musharraf. He called upon the people to continue their struggle for the implementation of the Pakistan resolution in letter and spirit.—Bureau
