Nasir, Natasha enter ITF junior quarter-finals

ISLAMABAD, Aug 19: Top seed Nasir Mushtaq, defeated compatriot Syed Zohair Raza in an interesting match winning 7-6 (3), 6-2 in the second leg of ITF Pakistan International Junior Tennis Championship 2008 at PTF Tennis complex on Tuesday.
Three foreign players, Bai Dong Du (China), Michael Siyaguna (Australia) and Vaidik Munshaw (India), also advanced into the quarter-finals defeating their respective opponents.
Bai Dong Du (China) sidelined Rohit Bisht (India) runner-up of first leg in straight sets 7-6(4), 6-0 and will now face top seed Nasir Mushtaq.
In the girls event Natasha Afridi, Shweta Rana, Sarah Mahboob Khan and Nilaya Tarimela qualified for the quarter-finals by winning their respective pre-quarterfinals.
Natasha Afridi (Pakistan) played outstanding tennis to defeat Shalaka Manjunath (India) in three sets.
Natasha won the first set 6-4 but the Indian fought back hard to level the match at one set all by winning second set at 7-5.
In the 3rd set score reached 4-all and 30-all. However, Natasha exhibited better match temperament in tough situation to win the 9th game and held her service to clinch the final set at 6-4.
Pakistan No.1 Sarah Mahboob Khan won her encounter against Shilpa Naruka (India). She was in full command in the first set and won the first set 6-1 after breaking 4th and 6th game of Shilpa. Shilpa won the second set at 6-4 by breaking second game of Sarah.
In the final set Sarah kept the first serve in and build up the winning lead 4-0 be breaking first and third game of Shilpa and win the final set at 6-2. Sarah qualified for the quarter-finals in which she will meet second seed Nilaya Tarimila of India.
