Man kills three to avenge son’s murder

By Munawer Azeem

ISLAMABAD, July 15: In a gruesome incident here on Tuesday, a man allegedly killed three persons in revenge of his son’s murder.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Muquddas Haider told Dawn the man called a contractor - Chaudhry Nisarullah - to his house located at Dhok Iqbal where he killed him along with his servant, Iftikhar Ahmed. Later, he attacked another man, Mohammad Kamal, and killed him too.

The ASP said the killer murdered them in revenge as Nisarullah’s cashier and watchman allegedly strangulated his son, Shahid Mehmood, to death and they were in Adiala Jail on judicial remand. Iftikhar was killed only because he was assorting his employer, he added.

The ASP said reason behind the killing of Kamal was that his nephew was arrested on charge of the murder. However, he was found innocent during investigation and later released by the court.

Earlier, the killer lodged a complaint with the Sabzi Mandi police, stating that his son was missing since December 12, the ASP said, adding that he lodged another complaint with the police after 18 days and accused a man of kidnapping his son.

On the complaints, the police registered a case on January 13 and picked up three persons. During investigation, two of them revealed that they strangulated Mehmood and buried his body at the under-construction area at H-12.

The body was recovered on February 17 on the identification of the accused. The police produced the accused in the court and one of them was released on bail as he was found innocent, the ASP said, adding that the two other confessed to their crime.

Nisarullah played a vital role in arresting of the accused and helped police a lot in this regard, the ASP said. But he was killed in revenge and anger.

Motive behind the murder of Mehmood was yet to be ascertained, Mr Haider said, adding that another alleged killer of him was still at large and police were trying to arrest him.

The ASP said the three persons were killed by firing at them. The police arrived at the spot and shifted the bodies to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences for autopsy. According to the medicolegal, the deceased received 17-18 pellets each.
