LARKANA, June 21: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah announced on Saturday abolishing taluka status for Bakrani and making Badah taluka headquarters.

Bakrani town had been made taluka during the days of former Sindh minister Haji Altaf Unnar.

Mr Shah said at a public meeting in Dokri that the government would not only train the jobless youth in different skills and trades but would also absorb them in different departments. They would also be given age relaxation of 15 years, he said.

He said that land would be distributed among landless poor women and they would be provided seeds and fertilisers on subsidised rates. The present government had enhanced budget for health and education sectors, he said.

The chief minister regretted that about 500,000 children could not attend school because the local landlords had occupied school buildings.

He said that the government would encourage girls to acquire education and would give them a sum of Rs1,000 per month as stipend. Lady doctors who had passed M.B.B.S. would also be given jobs, he added.The chief minister said that the government was making efforts to electricity needs by establishing coal-run power stations.

Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that the present government had settled the contentious issue of Kala Bagh Dam.

“We remember our promises and assure people that all the promises will materialise very soon,” he said.He said that about 100,000 youths would be trained and an equal number of houses would be constructed for the poor within a span of two years.

Provincial Minister for Law Mohammad Ayaz Soomro, Nafees Ahmed Siddiqui, General Secretary of PPP Sindh Haji Munwar Ali Abbasi, Hizbullah Bughio and others also addressed the meeting.
