OKARA, May 22: Scores of allottees and their supporter tenants brought out a counter protest rally from the Kulana Estate villages to Okara Press Club against the group of tenants led by Malik Saleem Jakkhar.

Reports said that hundreds of allottees along with their supporters, including women, reached outside the Press Club on their cars, tractor-trolleys and bikes under the leadership of Anjuman Tahaffuz-i-Mozareen (ATM) president Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf Kamboh, Rana Shakeel, Sajjad Hassain and Akhtar Pervaiz.

The protesters were also holding banners inscribed with slogans against the AMP activists.

Addressing the protesters, ATM leaders alleged that the so-called AMP activists were in fact the ‘qabza group’ who wanted to occupy agriculture lands of allottees in villages of the Kulana Estate.

They claimed that AMP president Malik Saleem Jakkhar and secretary Liaquat Kasmana had set on fire the crops of allottees.

They demanded that the administration should take notice of illegal activities of AMP leaders and workers and get vacated lands of allottees from their clutches.

Receiving information, the Sadar Circle DSP along with a heavy police contingent rushed to the Press Club to avoid any untoward incident.
