Four die, 30 injured as coach hits pickup

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, May 11: A man, two women and a minor baby boy were killed and 30 others, including minor children and women, were injured when a coach hit their pickup at Chowk Mari near Ubauro on Sunday morning.

Reports said that the pickup carrying a marriage party overturned after it was hit by a speeding coach coming from Karachi. The deceased were identified as Aijaz Ahmed (driver), one-year-old Abubakar, Ms Sharifan and Ms Kariman.

The coach driver escape after the accident. Police have impounded the vehicle and registered a case against the driver.

DCO: District Coordination Officer of Sukkur Inamullah Dharejo has stressed the need for close coordination among social sector bodies to prevent overlapping of programmes and projects.

Presiding over a meeting at his office here on Saturday, the DCO said that coordination among various development organisations and agencies would save resources.

“The overlapping of various programmes and projects is hampering the delivery of services. Coordination would also ensure timely uplift of areas where the organisations and agencies are working,” he said.
