RAHIM YAR KHAN, May 7: Five people were injured when four coaches of Karachi-bound Shah Rukn-i-Alam Express were derailed here on Wednesday. The Rescue-1122 staffers provided emergency treatment to the injured.

The derailment occurred due to damaged track near a bridge, one kilometre away from the railway station. The upside track was cleared after the incident, however downside track was yet to be cleared till the filing of this report.

Railway sources said that due to a lack of funds, they were unable to maintain old track while locals have expressed serious concerns over the poor maintenance of track. — Correspondent
