TOBA TEK SINGH, May 7: The father of an alleged vani victim girl has approached the police complaining that the village council head and his accomplices attacked his house on Tuesday.

Liaqat Ali, the father of eight-year-old Rehana, of Chak 725-GB, complained to Kamalia Saddar police that Aftab Shah and his three accomplices shot fires at his house. He claimed the accused threatened him of consequences if he did not withdraw the ‘vani’ case against him.

Shah is among 10 people facing charges for being part of the village jury that decided that Rehana be married to a 35-year-old man to compensate an elopement.

He added that he, his daughter, wife and brother Mahboob had to leave the house after climbing from outer walls and take refuge in a neighbourer's house.

District Police Officer Riaz Nazir Garra also visited Kamalia on Wednesday to inspect the crime scene.
