Ramprakash eyes another century

LONDON, May 3: Former England star Mark Ramprakash was eying his 99th first-class hundred on Friday in the English County Championship as his unbeaten 66 moved Surrey onto 164 for two in reply to Sussex’s 475.

Ramprakash, 38, started slowly but soon got into his stride and passed 50 off 99 deliveries after hitting six boundaries.

Matt Prior ensured he bagged some of the limelight as he completed his fourth successive Championship half-century after Sussex had resumed on 318-5.

At Headingley Chris Read scored a century to give Nottinghamshire a chance of a win at Yorkshire, the visitors ending day three on 356-6, 57 ahead, having earlier been struggling on 115-5, with Yorkshire 299.—AFP
