KARACHI, April 29: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan and Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza firmed up on Tuesday a power-sharing formula between the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the Pakistan People’s Party.

Sources told Dawn that the details of the deal would be announced by Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday.

The meeting between Dr Ebad and Dr Mirza was held at the Governor’s House, where the former was shown an agreement approved by PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

According to the agreement, the sources said, the MQM would be given 13 ministries, one post of adviser and one of special assistant in the Sindh cabinet.

It was decided that the MQM-backed nazims would be allowed to function smoothly and the governor would also continue working.

They said Governor Ebad would administer the oath to MQM’s ministers in a couple of days.
