Shoaib, Usman shine

KARACHI, April 28: Shoaib Akhtar batted brilliantly while Usman Farhat gave an all-round performance as Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) registered an eight-wicket win over Aga Khan University Staff ‘A’ team in the 7th AKU Sports Centre cricket tournament on Sunday at the AKU Sports Centre Gymnasium.

Batting first, AKU Staff ‘A’ posted 170-8 in 25 overs. Adnan (35) was the top scorer. Ahmer Farooqi grabbed a four-wicket haul for DIB.

In response, DIB achieved the target for the loss of two wickets.

Shoaib made 73 not out with 10 boundaries and three sixes. Usman also batted well to score an unbeaten 65.

In another match, Glaxo SmithKline beat Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank Corporation by 44 runs.
