By Tahir Siddiqui

KARACHI, April 27: A 26-year-old man, who was under immense stress because of a bank loan default and estranged relationship with wife, committed suicide in New Karachi on Sunday, family sources and police said.

Police said Mohammed Tufail, married with a 40-day-old baby girl, had committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his rented house.

His body was found by his mother in the evening.

Police said the victim had defaulted on a loan and a recovery team of the bank had visited his house in the afternoon.

Family sources said the couple had estranged relationship and the wife was living with her parents for a few weeks.

They said the victim had visited her estranged wife in the morning and returned home dejected because he had failed to bring her back. Later in the afternoon, the family sources said, he became more depressed after the loan recovery team had visited the house. They said Tufail had incurred heavy losses in business and had become bankrupt.

The sources said the man had taken Rs250,000 loan from the bank some three years ago and started an LPG station.
