KARACHI, April 26: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of Jamiat Ulema Islam-F, on Saturday called Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain during a meeting with Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad.

The Sindh governor called on the JUI-F chief and the meeting lasted for more than two hours.

The MQM chief discussed the political situation, with special reference to restoration of deposed judges through a parliamentary resolution and the lawyers’ movement.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman welcomed the ongoing dialogue between the MQM and the Pakistan People’s Party, saying that “we should refrain from negative politics and protest”.

The two leaders said that no one could hold parliament hostage by issuing ‘deadlines’ and the process of reconciliation should continue because the country needed unity among political forces.

Sources said that the JUI chief made it clear that he was not opposed to the inclusion of MQM lawmakers in the federal cabinet.
